News & Updates: December 16, 2011: New York.
L’Artisan Parfumeur Navigateur: My sources have informed me that Navigateur is being discontinued from the L’Artisan line. If you have it, cherish it since we don’t know whether it will be brought back. If you don’t, make a mad dash for whatever is left on the market or through ordering channels (it’s already scarce at Henri Bendel in New York). No further information, but we’ll be certain to keep you posted.
Jenni Farley Jwoww: In one of our recent updates, we mentioned the latest pseudo-celebrity fragrance from Snooki Polizzi from MTV’s “Jersey Shore” cast. On the heels of that, another cast member has taken to commissioning a fragrance, this time it’s Jenni Farley (known as “Jwoww”). Unlike Snooki’s debut, it appears Farley has taken a more hands-on interest in the development and marketing, and the product may actually prove worthwhile. Jwoww is presented in an EDP formulation, flasked in a bottle also designed by the former graphic artist, and is described as a “fresh, fruity-floral scent with musk undertones”. Admittedly, the notes seem well-organized, so time will tell whether the juice is worthy of more than 15 minutes of fame.
Bulgari Black is history: It’s about as official as you’ll find: Bulgari Black is history as distribution has been scaled back by the house in favor of the launch of new scents, such as Aqua for Men (as if we didn’t have enough aquatic scents already). The fragrance remains available via Bulgari’s website, as well as other retailers who still have stock (check out the online shopping links at right). Expect to pay full retail through Bulgari, while off-price (significantly lower) is still the norm for web ordering from second sources.
We’ve been away… Yes, as you’ve noticed we’ve taken a bit of a break from reviews for a bit, though not for the reasons we originally envisioned. One was a much needed vacation on the other side of the planet, which gave us quite a bit of fodder for future articles. The other, sadly, was the passing of my father about a month ago which came more suddenly than we’d have liked or hoped. Scentrist.com is also not my day job, and being away for much of a month (in addition to just entering the 2011 Holiday Shopping season) set us back quite a bit.
All of this to say that we’ll have more information and updates just after the New Year.
