News & Updates: April 7, 2012
During many of our previous updates, we’ve employed a style of long-written update that highlights perhaps three to four stories. Obviously, that isn’t enough to capture everything that might be newsworthy, so we’ve changed our updates to more of a syndicated style. While you’ll continue to see some long-form journalism on specific items, it will also be combined with individual highlights that redirect to longer-form content from other sources on the web.
Changes at The Perfumed Court: The original trio of women who founded The Perfumed Court have agreed aon an amicable split from the original site based on differenes in vision. While the original site will continue without much change, two of the partners have founded “Surrender to Chance”, an e-commerce site due to launch imminently. Tom Ford Launches his first Factory Outlet: Designer Tom Ford has announced the future opening of his first (and perhaps only) “Factory Outlet” at Woodbury Commons, the upscale retail outlet mall about 50 miles north of New York City. (Read more about this story on Lucky.com…)
The World’s Most Expensive Perfume just got a little more expensive: Clive Christian, creator of “Clive Christian No. 1″ (the most expensive perfume in the world, priced at $865 for 50ml), has announced the release of a new limited edition version of No. 1 for the Queen’s Jubilee. Art of Scent Exhibition in New York: Chandler Burr, author of “The Emperor of Scent” (2003), is set to open his first exhibit at the Museum of Arts & Design in New York on November 13, 2012. (Read more of this story at Boisdejasmin…)

Perfumania bid to purchase Parlux hits a snag: A lawyer representing a group of Parlux shareholders contends that the merger between fragrance retailer Perfumania and celebrity perfume marketer/manufacturer Parlux should be blocked since the $170 million offer wasn’t shopped around to other potential bidders. Oud Houses Smell Opportunity in Overseas Markets: The surging popualrity of the perfume ingredient Oud, long used in Arab countries and worth more per ounce than gold, is resulting in surging sales of the ingredient outside of its traditional marketplaces. (Read more in Arabianbusiness.com…)
